When creating your character, you may pick one of the races below or create a character who is mixed.
Humans
A diverse and adaptable species native to all nations of Aia. Legends tell of a divine chimpanzee who emerged from the Kiššatu forest and sculpted humans out of the dirt beneath Her.
Traits
- Age - Lifespan of ~80 years.
- Size - Under 5 feet to over 6 feet.
- Languages - The traditional human language is lost to time. Many claim that the Common tongue derives from this language.
- Naming - Cultural influence. Humans typically follow the naming conventions of the nation they reside in.
Nara
A species hard to separate from comparison to humans. Nara are a humanoid species much like humans, but are said to contain the blood of monstrous demons and youki, giving them a devilish appearance.
Traits
- Age - Lifespan of ~80 years.
- Size - Under 5 feet to over 6 feet.
- Languages - Nara speak the language of the culture they are born into. Many choose to learn narabhasha, the traditional language of the nara. Nara raised primarily amongst other Nara often teach their children Narabhasha alongside Common.
- Naming - Nara raised amongst human usually have cultural influence based names, much like humans. nara raised amongst other nara may do the same, but many like to play into their heritage, naming themselves after vices or natural concepts.
- Examples - Rage, Hawk, John, Sin, Hellfire
- Special traits - Nara are a diverse species–some look like humans with small horns, and others may have hooves, tails, and fur. While all Nara grow horns, in the past, it was commonplace for humans to “tip” the horns of nara: a painful process of cutting off one or both of a nara’s horns. In recent times, this practice has become very controversial. Most tipped nara are older.
Ruriko
Humanoid foxes native to deserts, forests, and arctic areas of Aia under various subspecies. Most ruriko simply refer to themselves as ruriko, using subspecies as a technical classification.
Traits
- Age - Lifespan of ~80 years.
- Size - Under 4 feet to over 5 feet.
- Languages - Rurigo is a dying language not spoken widely amongst the ruriko. Modern ruriko have integrated into human societies, taking on the language of their present culture.
- Naming - Traditional ruriko names are based solely on physical traits, and therefore may change several times in their lifetime. ruriko are given a sacred name at birth that can only be shared with their soul mate upon finding them. A ruriko’s sacred name is put on their grave when they die, if it is known.
- Examples - Silver Tail, Distant Gaze, Fluffy Ears, Silk
- Special traits - Though ruriko resemble humans, they possess fangs, fox-like ears, fox-like tails, and digitigrade feet. They have exceptional low light vision.
Desert Ruriko
These small ruriko’s are native to the deserts of Yasin Yume. They are quite a bit smaller than most other ruriko and they have bigger ears.
Arctic Ruriko
Ruriko from the mountains. They have thick, long fur suited for the cold and are slightly smaller than most other ruriko. Their fur is usually white or grey.
Kyogen Ruriko
Ruriko who are not specifically from the arctics or desert. The Yasini term ‘Kyogen’ refers to the species’ tendency to be lively and animated.
Kaelor
A humanoid species of big cats native to Haoda. The majority resemble tigers, but kaelor are a diverse species.
Traits
- Age - Lifespan of ~100 years. kaelor remain vivacious in their old age.
- Size - 4 feet to over 7 feet depending on sub-race.

- Special traits - Kaelor are required to hone their claws and teeth, and may be tempted to scratch at or chew on things.
Elves
A diverse long-lived species of mysterious and ancient origins.
Traits
- Age - Lifespan of ~400 years.
- Size - Under 5 feet to over 6 feet.
- Languages - There are many different dialects of the elvish tongue.
- Naming - Elves are given a child name at birth. When they declare adulthood, they choose an adult name.
- Special traits - Elves do not have pupils, and their solidly colored eyes emit a soft glow. It is sometimes easy to spot an elf’s mood, as diluted blood vessels from strong changes in mood cause the glow to become more intense.
Elda
Elda are a species of elf rumored to be born from the stars in the sky. They are the most common elves of Aia, making up a large portion of the elvish population.
Aridalei
A dying race branched from the very recently extinct Veridalei. They live almost exclusively in Ahar and Yasin Yume. Not much is known about them to to general public. They are semi-aquatic creatures who traditionally live in ocean caves.
- Languages - The Veridalei traditionally spoke Eldarethian, an old Elvish tongue. The living Aridalei have removed themselves entirely from the Veridalei, creating a dialect of Eldarethian called Daleithian. To the ignorant ear, the languages sound the same, but anyone raised around Elves would be able to spot the difference immediately. The speaking of Eldarethian over Daleithian or vice verse might be considered a bold political statement.
- Special traits - Special ills on their necks that allow them to breathe both water and air. Aridalei will get sick if they spend too much time away from water.
Urugadmu
Elves from the infinitely deep forest south of Kigamu, Kiššatu. They are feared and misunderstood and sometimes monstrous in form. Urugadmu traditionally live underground. Not much is known about them to the general public.
